Bolton Wanderers winger Lee Chung-Yong pens new deal
Bolton Wanderers have received a boost after Lee Chung-Yong signed a contract extension that will keep him at the English Premier League club until 2013.
The South Korea international joined up with the Trotters in the summer of 2009 when he was signed by former manager Gary Megson from FC Seoul for a fee of 2.2 million pounds.
The 22-year-old made 40 appearances across all competitions in his first season at the Reebok Stadium, scoring five goals and providing eight assists as Bolton finished in 14th place in the EPL.
However, Lee has helped his club reach even greater heights this term, as they are currently in fifth place with 22 points, just three behind Manchester City who currently occupy the last of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.
Lee has played in all 14 EPL games so far this term, has scored two league goals and has set up a further five. He joins team-mates Fabrice Muamba, Danny Ward and Stuart Holden in penning new deals with Bolton.
His manager Owen Coyle told reporters: We have signed Lee on a contract extension. It is great news for the club that such a talented player will be here for a long time. These (players signing) extensions show we are looking to build a (successful) club.
"I am very forward thinking in trying to improve and help these young players on our journey. With the talent he has Lee is getting better day by day and I am thrilled he has signed up. What I am wary of is we do not burn him out as he has played two years
without a break. He managed to have three weeks off after the 2010 FIFA World Cup, that's all."
Lee netted two goals at the World Cup as he helped his side reach the round of 16 at the tournament.
