Bolton boss Owen Coyle confident of retaining Jussi Jaaskelainen, midfielder Chung-Yong Lee out with broken leg
Owen Coyle, the Bolton Wanderers manager, revealed he had not heard about reports claiming that the first choice goal keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen had rejected a possible new deal at the club. The 36-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Finland-c2898 international is in his contracts
last year and apparently refused to sign a one year extension, which would keep him at the club until 2013.
However, Coyle revealed he was not worried about retaining the services of Jaaskelainen as talks were still going on. During the past season, the Bolton Wanderers stopper has been linked with a move to English Premier League rivals Manchester City and Stoke
City. However, neither of the sides have made a concrete offer as yet and Jaaskelainen looks to be continuing on at the Reebok Stadium.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“I'm very relaxed with the situation regarding Jussi.
It's like any negotiation; you can't just click your fingers and expect it to be resolved.
Jussi Jaaskelainen has been outstanding for Bolton Wanderers and Bolton Wanderers have been outstanding for him. That's why it's a very good fit and I don't see that changing.”
Jaaskelainen joined Bolton Wanderers in 1997 and since then has been the club’s first choice keeper, except for a brief period when he was ruled out due to injury. Since then he has been linked with many top European sides, such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Real Madrid,
AC Milan and Manchester United, but has continued on with Bolton.
He has made a total of 509 appearances for Bolton Wanderers in all competitions and despite reaching 36 years of age, remains Bolton’s first choice keeper. Despite hinting on a Reebok Stadium exit by refusing to sign a contract extension, Coyle remains confident
he can convince the Finnish goal keeper to remain at the club and possibly end his playing career with the Trotters.
Coyle will be without Chung-Yong Lee, the 23-year-old South Korean midfielder, who sustained a broken leg during a friendly match. He is expected to be out for about nine months after suffering a double fracture of his right leg during Bolton’s 3-1 win at
Newport.
The former FC Seoul player had to be taken off on a stretcher in the first half of the match after a challenge by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Miller. The club confirmed on their official website that the player was recovering in the hospital was would miss out on the better part
of the upcoming campaign.
Bolton Wanderers signed the South Korea international from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Seoul-c39205 on a three year deal in the summer of 2009 on a fee of £2.2 million. Since then he has made 76 appearances for the Wanderers in all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 16 assists.
