Daniel Sturridge, the 21-year-old Chelsea striker who is on loan to Bolton Wanderers, revealed he was having a good time at the Reebok Stadium but was eager to make a return to Stamford Bridge. Sturridge was sent to Bolton during the January transfer window
to make room for £50 million signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707.
First team experience was another reason why Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti decided to send the former Manchester City striker out on loan. He has had immense success at Bolton, scoring four goals in five games and looks to be in excellent form overall.
After his successful start at Bolton, Sturridge was linked with making his move at Bolton more permanent in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the young forward insisted he wished to return to Chelsea at the end of the season where he was determined
to fight for a place in the starting XI.
He said, “I'm looking forward to going back at the end of the season, to rekindling friendships, to being a Chelsea player again. I'm contracted to Chelsea for another three years and I want to see that contract out. Obviously you can never say never in
football, but Chelsea is still where my heart is.”
Sturridge revealed he was aware of the importance of experience playing in other clubs and was grateful for such an opportunity. He mentioned http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zat-Knight-c37825, all three of whom had managed to secure a place in the first team
after stints in other sides on loan.
Sturridge was also pleased with the treatment he had received from Bolton boss Owen Coyle, who he credited for his success at the club. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Doyle-c20719 also earned a mention, he has been very impressive this season and Sturridge admitted he was learning a lot
from the player.
The Englishman has been highly successful at his new club, the player he was replaced because of, not so much. Torres has failed to find the back of the net in over five appearances for the Blues and has recently come under heavy criticism.
Despite his lack of form and goals, Ancelotti has decided to stick with Torres but Sturridge insisted he was not worried. He was confident he could earn a place in the Blues squad upon his return and said he was in fact pleased with the arrival of Torres,
whom he regards as a great football player.
He continued, “I'm happy he's joined [Fernando Torres]. The club needs to progress, and he makes the squad stronger than it was before. I hope Didier stays too. He's a great footballer, and I respect him so much, as a man off the field, not just as a player.
But I believe I'm good enough to start at Chelsea regularly.”
