a few days ago i met some really nice guys at an airport, and i'm really wishing i would've gotten their names and numbers. but, unfortunately i'm too shy. anyway, they were flying a bonanza v-tail. is there any way i could get the N numbers of all the airplanes that took off from a specific airport on that date? and could i then look up the owner of that plane? is this possible? if so, how?

  1. If there's a federal tower, the records will be maintained for a certain period of time, probably 15 days although I'm not sure of the exact time. This information could be obtained via the Freedom of Information Act.  If there's no tower, or if it's a Federal Contract Tower (FCT), the chances are slim of retrieving it unless they had filed an IFR or VFR flight plan, then once again FOIA comes into play.  Once you have the numbers, they could be checked on the FAA data base or on a few other sites.  The process would be quite a bit work, all in all.

  2. Hey ... try this.  Go to landings.com and look for V35 owners in the area.

Then you could look at Flightaware to check for flights from that airport.

....at the bottom of the page, search 'database' and then there will be a place for owner search -- your looking for V35 or model 35.

Enter the airport code and see if you can look at the history.

    See if that helps .....

  3. Hmm, that's hard to say. I'm sorry I can't be more useful but the only way I could see you getting the reg #'s is to actually get them from the planes themselves,

You might be able to find them if you know who the owner(s) are though.

  4. Once you have a tail number you can search for the owner online... just run a search of it on google or yahoo and various sites with the information you are wanting will show up.  The trick is finding out the tail number.  If the airport has a control tower, then you might contact them, but I doubt they still have the record.  If they filed a VFR or IFR flight plan you might be able to get the info that way, but then again I am not too sure how long it is kept, and more importantly if that information is divulged to anyone that asks.
