Bone sticking out at the bottom of tailbone HELPP! ?

ok, at the bottom of my tailbone (above my bum) there is a bone sticking out and when i bend over it is considerably noticeable. when i sit down after a while it starts to ake and i will have to change position.my mum has booked me a doctors appointment but i would like to know what to expect so does any one have any ideas what this is.
