Boobies are leaking...?

My son is 8.5 months old and hasnt been breastfed since he was about 1 month. I know I'm going to get criticism for that but he never latched and was loosing weight, I had no choice but to put him on formula. And then my milk dried up like instantly. I was sad.. but that is the past. Anyways... recently I have noticed a few drops of fluid comming out of one breast of the other. I havent leaked in so long that I'm not sure if it would be breast milk or not.. do you think it is? Also, are we too far gone at this point to try to relactate and breastfeed? I plan on talking with our doctor at my sons next checkup (2 weeks from now) but I'm curious now...

  1. I wouldnt think you would still be leaking, but then again what else could it be?  Any change in your diet or anything stressful happen lately? I would also think that relactating may be too far gone, then again, if it is breastmilk, maybe not.

Sorry I cant be of more help-

  2. Yeah that happened to me in fact when I get my period or just sometimes out of the blue I'll leak.  It's strange but it happens....don't be surprised if it happens everyonce in a while.  I think its because of hormones but it should pass.  If it bothers you ask your doc.  It happened to me about a year after....

  3. 1) Take a pregnancy test

But it is NEVER too late to relactate, its never too late for breastmilk to be beneficial to your child AND to your own health as well.  It is also beneficial to your child to suckle on an empty breast (which many women who can not produce milk because of physical deformities do).

Chances are your doctor will tell you its not a good idea, or pointless, whatever.  Doctors are not educated about breastfeeding nor pediatric nutrition/immunology.

  4. You could be pregnant.

And no it's not too late for re-lactation. You could give it a try. You would need to be pretty dedicated to it though as it's not very easy.

Good luck with your decision and the test. ;)

  5. It isn't to far gone to try and re-lactate but I would enlist the help of a lactation consultant.  Not sure about the leaking.
