The challenge is to write an 8-12 sentence paragraph!

"John Hersey presents the terrible effects that the atomic bomb had on civilians of Hiroshima.

What results of the bomb were the most devastating?

Use examples from the entire text (not just the first part) to support your answer.

  1. A challenge to you, Kumar:  Read the book.  You have many choices as to which aspect you think most devastating, from the human death toll to the horrific injuries to the destruction of infrastructure to deal with the aftermath.  You could even use the psychic damage to survivors or the lingering effects of radiation poisoning.  You have to decide, though, and then select passages to back up your choices.

    Hersey's book is still an important one after all these years.  It deserves to be read.
