Book Competition? How to get Book Published? Anyone?

Hi,

First of all, thanks for reading.

I have written a book. It has taken me 1 year to write it, and its finished. Does anyone know of a book competition for first time authors? Prize is getting it published? lol

Or any tips on finding a publisher or agent, and convincing someone to take the time to read...because I am not full of myself, but if they do, I am pretty sure they will like it.

PS: I dont want to be self published. Thats not for me...

Get Writer's Market. You can read it at the public library. It tells who is buying and how to submit your work. Follow the submission guidelines to the letter or they just throw your work away. Good luck.
