Book Help... Last Days of Summer !?

i just got a book called last days of summer by Steve kluger and I have to read it by September 4 if anyone has read the book can you give me a detailed summary... Or can you give me a website where I can get a summary, I went to sparknotes.com bookrags.com and cliffnotes.com but didnt find anything... HELP !

The book is about a 12 year old boy named joey who pretends to be dying( of malaria and the plague and everything else he thinks of) so that Charlie Banks who is a 3rd baseman for the Giants (i think) will come and visit him. Charlie finds out that the boy is a fake...but ends up being a role model  and kinda friend for him anyway. The kid needs someone to look up to.

The book is them writing letters back and forth in the 40's.
