  1. The web is full of wonderful resources. I have listed some excellent books along with book lists geared preschoolers.

Dr. Seuss is a must have because the books are fun and very creative.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Winnie the Pooh series by A.A. Milne

The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper

Clifford, the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell

The Curious George series by Margaret Rey

Berenstain Bears series by Stan & Jan Berenstain

The Little Red Hen by Byron Barton

    Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

    The Grimm Brothers

    Hans Christian Anderson

  2. Little Golden books and Dr.seuss there is alot of them out there

  3. Little Golden Books Collections   (maybe a little young..)http://www.amazon.com/Little-Golden-Book...

Dr Seuss Miniature Collection ( a favorite for 4-8) http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Seuss-Miniature...

(The Dr Seuss collections are a favorite in my house)

  4. everyone has their own favorite authors, but there are several general collections that are avail for sale in the lakeshore catalog but its much more fun to create your own.

for early/beginning readers(and please do not rush your child into reading before he/she is ready) they will learn much more rapidly if you or another adult reads to them on a regular basis

my own personal favorites include but do not exclude almost any author who may be entertaining to a particular child.....eric carle, dr seuss, tana hoban, margaret brown, stan/jan berainstein, r a rey, e b white, richard scarry, richard dahl, all of the traditional fairy tales/fables, author of danny and the dinosaur, ....cant remember any more check out your local library and remember to include a variety of subject(math, science, social studies, families, health, etc) and be sure to include not only picture books but books that your child can follow along with while you read to them and most of all be sure your child both sees you read but has a variety of reading material including newspapers, magazines, books, audio books, coupons, etc to practice reading from.

I actually taught one of my own children to read by practicing reading the bus stop benches and shelters(we rode the bus to and from work/school and home)

    and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!
