  1. I'm not sure what you mean by this, but you should definetly book a roundtrip.  When I weant, many years ago, we bought an open ended ticket and set the date when we were reading.  It was a very expensive ticket however.

  2. If you're flying to the US from Bolivia, I recommend you fly American Airlines. The flight departs from La Paz, makes a quick stop at Santa Cruz (you do not have to change planes). Then, the plane departs Santa Cruz for Miami - nonstop service.

I wouldn't recommend flying through Lima.

The only carrier that has a La Paz - Lima service is TACA. TACA is really bad in customer service. It's not a good airline. Then, In Lima, you're gonna have to either:

    1) Pass through immigration, customs, and  luggage check-in for another airline with nonstop service to the US (TACA doesn't have Lima - US flights)

    OR

    2) Continue flying TACA, but you're gonna have to connect again in San Jose, Costa Rica. I do not recommend connecting at San Jose with TACA because connections are TOO long and San Jose Airport's Int'l lounge is boring. There are few stores (when I say few... I mean VERY few) and it is too small. It gets too crowded.

Trust me. I've flown from La Paz to the US a couple of times using both routes.

American Airlines is the best choice.

  3. I would recommend traveling out of Lima, Peru. It is an international hub, and you will save a lot of money.
