Book or movie screenplay - THE_RUINS - which better?

Have you read the 2006 book by Scott Smith and viewed whether in theatre (one ending) or on DVD (alternate endings) the thriller-horror that is quite disturbing? Do you think the director deserves praise? the author who is also the screenplay writer? please explain fully - 10 points to best answer. . .

  1. the book definitely the movie was unrealistic and not that scary but i couldn't set down the book for more than a second i had to now what happened next.


  2. the book had very little plausibility -- it could have been read as some sort of parable about EBOLA virus but didn't seem to go the same direction as the Movie's alternate endings (rip-offs for likely sequels) - - I read the book while renting the video and I was amazed at the money and pretentiousness of such shallow material thrown at this by highly successful studio and producers.  In the book (SPOILER) the victim of the invasive vine was not the girl who then takes the knife to herself but instead the guy Eric.  Such major alterations made the movie less comprehendible. . .
