I would like a book for my best friend's daughter that isn't completely vapid and also isn't horror. Any suggestions?

  1. How to Be Popular by Meg Cabot.

    Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

I read both when I was 14 the summer before I went into high school.  How to Be Popular was a bit cliche and predictable, but it did give me some insight on what high school would really be like and the importance of being yourself as well as being happy with who your are.

Just Listen was similar to How to Be Popular in the sense that it was kind of the 'high school girl finds herself' theme, but I found it to be a more unique and interesting story compared to the other book.

  2. Twilight would be good for a 14 year old girl, but I wouldn't call it a great saga.

Maybe it's great if you can over look the poor writing and stupid plot stuff.... Vampires who sparkle when the sun hits them...AWESOME!

But, I couldn't think of anything better for a 14 year old girl...

    So go for Twilight...I guess.

  3. TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!11

  4. the outsiders

i read it its a really good book with a twist at the end

  5. Twilight is a great saga. To kill a Mockingbird is a great book too. (Twilight may suit her interest more though. Hope this helps.

  6. The perks of being a wallflower.

I'm not sure what vapid means, though.

  7. I'm 13 and I like 'Go Girl!' books... they are a bit childish but i like them...

When you say "horror" I'm assuming you're referring to being frightened like in that new movie "Mirrors".

  9. try:

Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras by Scott Westerfield

    The Twilight Series

    The Gemma Doyle Trilogy

    those are my favorites =]
