Question:

Book suggestions?

I'm sharing books with a friend and I'd like some suggestions. I want them to be thought provoking, write-in-the-margins kind of books, but not too heavy. I don't want to lug some scholarly tome out of my backpack and remind her to read it with a dictionary.

The most recent books shared were The Book Thief and I am the Messenger, both by Markus Zusak and both a huge success.

Thanks for your help!

  1. I have just started reading The Book Thief so its good to here it is worth it.

I am also reading a fair bit of Bill Bryson who is mainly a travel writer, but in an amusing way. His books are not a heavy read and ones that i have read have been laugh out loud funny.

I am currently readind Mother Tounge and Shakespeare both by Bill Bryson. Mother Tounge is about the english language and why we talk the way we do - accents. And it really interesting. My friend who i book share with just gave me Shakespeare and it is sounding pretty good too.

    Happy reading

  2. I feel that you can't go wrong with Asimov. If your friend isn't really in to S.F. I'd suggest Ayn Rand or Thomas More. Good luck!
