Ok we have booked our vacation to Jamaica for the 1st of Sept/08. Are we crazy in doing this. I want to see the ocean and Jamaica and this is the only time we are able to do it. What is the weather like this time of year? Are we still able to enjoy the ocean and all that Jamaica has to offer? Are there many people at the resorts? I am hoping we didn't make a mistake in booking the trip for this time of year. Any info you may have will be helpful to us. Please set my mind at ease.

  1. Well, that IS hurricane season in the Caribbean, and you never know whether there will be a storm when you are there.  [That's why trip insurance is a good idea in hurricane season.]  The weather isn't that variable in the Caribbean, although there is a "rainy season".

You'll be fine, as long as you're staying at an all-inclusive.  Jamaica isn't an island you want to wander around on as an obvious tourist.  The locals tend to "hound" tourists to buy stuff, give tips, etc.

  2. hey what a coincidence. i have a trip to jamaica on 9/02/08. and i wouldn't worry weather wise, my husband and i always book vacations to the caribbean this time of year. it should be wonderful weather, not nearly as hot as mid summer.

  3. not really it's your vacation, your $$$$$ and you can do what you want

    no I don't think you're crazy

    it's just a vacation

e Caribbean’s most beautiful island according to some, Jamaica has sugar-sand beaches, rivers, waterfalls, and jungle-like Blue Mountains that encourage endless outdoor adventures. A dramatic canvas of blooming flowers, a blazing sun shimmering off miles of white-sand beaches, rivers rushing down from rain-forest-cloaked mountains, and people who are quick to share a laugh. The island offers many choices, including all-inclusive hotels, historical tours, a vibrant music scene, golf packages, river rafting, and spa vacations. And Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios on Jamaica’s northern coast are home to many fine Jamaica resorts.

  4. Hurricane doesn't usually ruin things in a resort area for more than 3 days. The odds are not that great but even so the storm experience will perhaps enhance your vacation.

  5. There are many people that travel during hurricane season, because the prices are amazing.  I went in October and May and it was beautiful.  I love Jamaica. Definitely check out Dunns River Fall (climbing the falls is awesome) and river tubing is fun.  Enjoy yourself.  There will be people at the resorts, no worries there. Have a wonderful trip.

  6. Don't worry....Jamaica doesn't change very much. Its hot with scattered showers in different areas every month of the year. Although winter is the rainy season. Sept. is no different...hot sun, beautiful waters, lots of tourists....

    No worries ;-)
