Bookie Mazhar Majeed gives out names of four additional Pakistani players: Akmal brothers, Wahab Riaz, Imran Farhat
New footage of the undercover operation carried out by British tabloid
News of the World, which shook the cricketing world, has emerged. In the new video, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed is seen giving out names of the Pakistani players he has under his control. Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir had their name publically announced
in the allegations put forward by News of the World in August.
The fresh footage released has brought out the names of the 4 other players which were previously not disclosed. The four players include
Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz and Imran Farhat. In a question asked by the reporter, Majeed replies, "I'll tell you who we've got then. We've got Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt, Wahab Riaz ...
that's six, yeah? Imran Farhat ... that's seven out of 11 players." Majeed continues to explain why he has chosen these players and not senior players like Abdul Razzaq, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 or Younis Khan. He said, “It's long-term thinking. These
boys are going to be around [for] years and I've got the best boys."
The British tabloid, in their initial accusations claimed that 7 Pakistani players were involved in spot-fixing but the names of only 3 players were given. The videos released back in August also showed the names of only Butt,
Asif and Amir being used.
Out of the four additional players being discussed in the video, Riaz and Umar Akmal continue to be part of Pakistan’s team. They have also been selected for the upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. Imran Farhat has been dropped from
the squad but that was mainly due to Farhat’s poor run of form.
Umar’s elder brother Kamran Akmal has also been axed by the Pakistan selection committee for the New Zealand tour. He was also left out of the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755
selection committee http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 has revealed that Kamran was not given clearance by the PCB and hence was not eligible for selection. It is interesting to note that the ICC has already cleared the wicketkeeper of all match-fixing charges.
