Bookiesindex Boy confident to thrive in Beer Handicap
Bookiesindex Boy is confident enough to register the first success of 2012 by winning the Thorley Taverns And Crabbie’s Ginger Beer Handicap that will take place at Brighton racecourse on Tuesday, June 26. The Class 6 contest will commence at 2:15 (GMT).
On the good to soft track of 5 furlongs and 59 yards, the J. R. Jenkins-trained bay and brown gelding will compete against seven rivals including some strong ones like Dear Maurice and Imaginary Diva.
At the end of the race, the winner will walk away with the cash prize worth £1,617.
It has been long since Bookiesindex Boy claimed his last victory. Since March 2011, the eight-year-old veteran horse has been struggling badly but he has delivered some sterling performances during this period.
On May 9, 2012, the gelding grabbed a third against a dozen of rivals. He stepped ahead to bag a couple of runner-up ranks in the two subsequent outings. He stepped ahead to finish 9th in his last start. Overall, the horse has won 5 of his total
91 starts so far.
Though the son of Piccolo out of United Passion does not look to be capable enough but it is crucial to regard him as the favourite contender, as none of his competitors qualifies for this tag.
However, Dear Maurice and Imaginary Diva will perform well today probably for the runner-up rank.
Dear Maurice has just two triumphs to his name. The Tobias B. P. Coles-trained bay gelding’s last success came in June 2008. The 32-race experienced horse finished 5th in each of his last two outings.
On the other hand, Imaginary Diva has won 6 of her total 48 starts so far. The George Margarson-trained bay mare grabbed two grand triumphs in August 2011. Since the dawn of the calendar year, the veteran runner has gained two 5th and two 4th
positions in a row.
Thus, there will be a fierce clash between Imaginary Diva and Dear Maurice for the second position.
Bookiesindex Boy will be able to seal success convincingly. By the large, the event will be interesting to watch. Let us go for the exciting action. Good luck to all the runners.
