Ok, I'm a experienced cruises, but now I want to book a cruise for my whole family. One cabin would have 4 people, one would have 3 people, and one would have 2 people. I thought a mini suite would be perfect for each family, but when I look on the princess web site, they say for the family of 4, a mini is not available. What gives with this. I'm talking about more then a year in advance, so I'm not talking about them being sold out. The mini suites have a double bed, plus a couch that is a hide a bed. I think this would be perfect for a family of 4. Does anybody know about this kind of arrangment? p.s. this will be to Alaska, round trip from San francisco.

  1. Alaska cruises have a lot of different options, as you know, for departure ports, dates, and itineraries.  Since you have already narrowed your choices to Princess I suggest that you call Princess and talk with one of their cruise consultants and let them find what you want.  In addition, consider doing your cruise from a  different date and/or port, like maybe Seattle or Vancouver, if the type stateroom you want is available from these alternative locations.

It may be that the ship that you want to go on does not have the type mini-suites that you want, or the computer reservations system may not be picking up the suites as available.  Sometimes the computer reservation system is not always accurate and up to date.

  2. To book the staterooms that you usually cannot book online (some suites, family rooms, and any rooms holding over 4 people) then you must book through your travel agent.  They may have some rooming restrictions on that room .  Your travel agent will be able to give you all the information for the particular sail date that you are looking into. Booking this cruise a year in advacance should give you great discounts for booking early. An Alaskan cruise would be perfect for a group of family members.  Since you are booking more than one room then I would suggest you book through a cruise agent.  You can also get special deals and amenities while booking through them.  I would be glad to help if you would like.  $100 onboard credit now being offered per stateroom including extra amenities or upgrades for past guests.  Send me an email through yahoo answers if you would like more information on how to book these rooms.

  3. You may have to call them directly or go through a travel agent.  Websites tend to be a bit restrictive for information.  They may require more than 4 in a mini suite (I don't know for sure).

I know when we booked our recent cruise, we went through our travel agent so we could have some special arrangements made.

  4. Hello,

How are you? I'm sorry you're having a hard time with cooking your cruise.  I am a travel agent if you need one.  I'd love to assist you.
