Booking ticket online? Please Help.?

Hi, im traveling by plane for the first time with my brother from nj to california. We just booked a ticket for next month and I just got the itinerary and it said that they had sent me the electronic ticket number to my email. I got them and it told me the ticket number, confirmation, and stuff. My question is is this my ticket?. Do i just go to the airport and bring this with me to get the boarding pass?. while booking the ticket, i forgot to select seats?. On the ticket it says "any" for the seats. Do you think i could change it when i get my boarding pass?. cuz i want to sit next to my brother. also it said that my plane will stop at atlanta and change plane and then continue to california. how hard is it to change plane?. please give me all the information you know and answer all my questions.

yes, present the email at the check in desk and they will issue you with a boarding pass.

if you arrive early at check in you may be able to select where you sit, either window or aisle. if you check in together you have a good chance of sitting together. if not you can ask somebody if they would mind swapping seats. i have swapped seats with people who wanted to sit with their friends/relatives.

yes, it is easy to swap planes, sometimes it is just long and boring waiting to do so.

Yes, that is your ticket that you take to the airport.  Most airlines let you get your boarding passes 24 hours before the flight.  You can do that online.  I just booked a flight and it said I could select seats at any time.  You might want to check that out so that you can do that before the day of the flight.  The flight attendants will let you know where the connecting flight gates are if you are flying the same airline.  If they don't announce it, there is a sign in the airport that you can check, or just ask an attendant and they will find out for you.  Your confirmation number is the most important information you have right now.  That is what you will use to get your boarding passes.  Good Luck and Have Fun!
