Booking travel more than a year advanced ?

I'm a military spouse that is planning on leaving the country we are stationed in for a year during the armys deployment, however I want to book my travel a bit ahead of time in hopes of catching some deals, is it possible to book a round trip ticket for over a year in advance? the departure would only be a month or so in advance but the return date is what would be over a year ahead of time. I just know round trips are so much more affordable then two one ways.

Some airlines allow you to book a year in advance, and others do not. A majority of airlines allow you to search for flights 7-9 months in advance. Because the frequency and actual schedule of flights changes very frequently, it is more likely that your flight times will change if you book that far in advance. For help in finding cheap airfare, I recommend the following sites:

Both of these websites search international destinations, querying all airlines that fly your requested route to locate the cheapest fare. You may also search for alternate cities and add a few other options to try and make the fares cheaper. Those options include using flexible dates (if that's an option in your case), searching partner websites, using alternate cities, etc.

It is quite possible. Use http://www.pinpointtravel.com/ to monitor air flights from all of the airlines that serve your travel points. If you sign up with them for free, you can get free alerts about lower prices or new flights. Always book from the airline directly and the best times to get the cheapest inventory is around 1 AM-6 AM and I read on Wednesdays they normally put new flights, but in general, the prices always drop in the wee hours of the morning. I used to study flights to D.R. on Pinpointtravel when I needed airfare and it never failed to go cheap in wee hours.
