  1. The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain

  2. Hmmm. A direct connection does not pop out at me, so I'm assuming that you simply enjoyed reading the books and would like similar recommendations.  Here are some of my personal favorites...I don't know how old you are...so, sorry...

    MAUS I and II--Spiegelman

    Animal Farm--Orwell

    Tale of Two Cities--Dickens

    Catcher in the Rye--Salinger

    Grapes of Wrath--Steinbeck

John Irving is a great contemporary author

Roald Dahl has great adult themed (not smutty--but not for 8 yr olds) short stories

12 Angry Men is a play with similar themes as Mockingbird

  3. i cant think of something similar, but if you like those two books, i'd try of mice and men. its a great book.

  4. Wide range of books I've enjoyed -- I love both that you've mentioned so I'd imagine you may enjoy these also:

    Silas Marner by George Eliot

    Underground Man by Milton Meltzer

Book of Lights by Chaim Potok

Anything by Chaim Potok (esp. the Asher Lev ones)

    East of Eden by Steinbeck

    My Antonia by Willa Cather

    David Copperfield by Dickens

Wind in the Willows (yes, a kids book -- but read the full version of it if you never have before. seriously.)

Ralph Moody's Little Britches series is fun too (again more "kid" type books) but still good if you're looking for something lighter and easier.

Dostoevsky if you're looking for a more challenging read.
