Question:

Books for 7th Grade Language Project?

Okay, I have a project for my Language class. I'm a 7th grader. Here's my problem...

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO READ!!!!!

I can't read anything I've read over the summer, so that cancels out Twilight, Breaking Dawn, anything by Lauren Myracle, etc.

I've already read all the Harry Potter books 4 times each.

Same with Lemony Snicket, Stephenie Meyer, and the Charlie Bone series.

Also, it has to be appropriate for a 7th grader because we have to do an oral report as well.

My dad suggested anything Terry Brooks or Pet Semetary (sp?) by Stephen King...

OH, and I need to know by Tuesday so I can go to the library and find it.

HELP!!!

  1. Try "the Sacrifice" by Diane Matcheck, its very good.

    PS, cemetary

  2. Indiana Jones. or Cherub.

  3. I read Call of the Wild in 7th grade.

  4. Try "Call of the Wild".  I am reading that book in class and I am in 7th grade too. Heres whats its about a dog who live on a really rich place. It takes place during the Klondike gold rush soo a person who works on the place sells him for money and Buck(the dogs name) has to survive in the wilderness helping the men find gold. Its a really good book but dont read it if your really really really sensitive about dogs and animals. There are a few parts where the dogs get beaten. Otherwise i dont know the ending so i dont know if its happy or not. its a really good book and  I recommend it.

yes its on 7th grade level @ my school

  5. Some books I read in seventh grade:

Time Stops for No Mouse- Michael Hoeye

Out of the Dust- Karen Hessel

    Dragon Wings- Laurence Yep

    Wildwood Dancing- Juliet Marillier

those are just a few. My favorite was Wildwood Dancing.

  6. Don't do anything by Stephen King.  Trust me on that one.

Anything by Avi is good, as is anything by Tolkien or Brian Jacques.

There are some really good historical fiction choices out there - Rosemary Sutcliff has some great stuff.  Try a classic - Robinson Crusoe, Treasure Island, Animal Farm, anything by Dickens...Ivanhoe, Canterbury Tales (just reference a modern version, this is a lot funnier than you'd think)...the list is endless.

Or, go to the library and enlist the help of a librarian.  That's why they're there - they know the books and can help you find something that both you and your teacher will love.
