Books like Harry Potter or Twilight?

I'm looking for books that are like Harry Potter or Twilight...preferrably a good book about Vampires...but any kind of magical stuff would work also. Any suggestions?

The "Young Wizards" series by Diane Duane is like Harry Potter with a more scientific slant on magic.

"Howl's Moving Castle" by Dianna Wynne Jones is a funny fantasy romance.

Laurell K. Hamilton, Anita Blake vampire series.  Start with "Guilty Pleasures" .  It is more adult content, however.

More scifi, but Uglies is a good book. Sequels are Pretties, Specials, and Extras.

The Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray are great books.

1st book- A Great and Terrible Beauty

2nd book- Rebel Angels

3rd book- The Sweet Far Thing

These books have a variety of different themes intertwined-fantasy,romance, and action.

The Demonata series by Darren Shan. they're really gruesome so don't read them on a full stomach :} Shan also wrote the Cirque Du Freak series, i haven't had a chance to read them yet though. His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman is also good.

Some of my other favorites are Chasing Yesterday by Wasserman, and The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper.

This may not interest you, but I also like Peter and the Starcatches by Barry Pearson, which is a book that sort of explains Peter Pan, before the actual Peter Pan story. Such as how Peter can fly, and where Tinkerbell came from. It's a good book, to me.
