What are some good, comprehensive books on the Big Bang?

I have heard "The First Three Minutes" by Steven Weinberg is supposed to be good.

I am looking for a book that is easy to understand, but that explains a lot.

  1. I've read "The First Three Minutes".  I thought it was good.  It's pretty easy to understand.  I liked Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" as well.  I have it on audio tape, and from time to time listen to it in the car.  These books have different goals, so reading them both will give you broader background.

Alex Filippenko's 24 hour video series "What's New In Astronomy, 2003" does complete coverage.

You might even try Sagan's 1981 Cosmos series, also available on DVD.
