I am looking for a book that kind of has a feel like the Van Helsing film a few years back. I love movies with monsters, mysteries and romances so I was wondering if you guys could recommend any books that might fit.. I'm looking for more adult books than young adults, but if the young adults are really good then I'd love to read them.. Just list off suggestions if you can. THANKS :D

  1. Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series

  2. The Harry Potter series is really good, and full of werewolves and other cool monsters. Read it, its really good!!!!!

  3. Darren Shan:

    Cirque du Freak

    The Demonata

  4. Dracula by Bram Stoker is the classic vampire novel. You may want to read that.

Though it's not my thing, you might enjoy Anne Rice's Vampire series starting with Interview with the Vampire.

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire_fic... has a decent list of other vampire stories from the more classic to the modern.

If you enjoy Sherlock Holmes mysteries, I would recommend The Adventure of the Sussex Vampire. It is a short story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and can be found in the collection of Sherlock Holmes short stories called The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes.

It's not precisely a werewolf story, but you may appreciate Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. You could say that Hyde is a variation on the werewolf theme.

Though I haven't read these, you may want to check out the following (the quote is from Wikipedia): "An early example is Hugues, the Wer-Wolf by Sutherland Menzies published in 1838. In another, Wagner the Wehr-Wolf (1847) by G. W. M. Reynolds, we find the classic subject of a man cursed to be transformed into a werewolf at the time of the full moon: representing the split personality and evil, bloodthirsty, dark side of humanity itself. Other werewolf stories of this period include The Wolf-Leader (1857) by Alexandre Dumas and Hugues-le-Loup (1869) by Erckmann-Chatrian."

An interesting story, which is considered young adult, is A Walk in Wolf Wood by Mary Stewart. Even as an adult, I enjoyed it.

  5. Salem's Lot, by Stephen King

Cycle Of The Werewolf, by Stephen King (That book's only about fifty pages though)

    Pet Sematary, by Stephen King

    The Mist, by Stephen King
