Boom Boom Shahid Afridi wants to win ICC 2011 World Cup for Pakistani people
Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, has said that he wants to win the ICC World Cup 2011 for all cricket fans back home, who are deprived of international cricket.
No international team has visited Pakistan since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2009.
Pakistan was scheduled as one of the host nations for the ICC 2011 World Cup but International Cricket Council (ICC) had to shift the matches away from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 because of security concerns.
Afridi has said that his team is aware of what the nation back home is going through and the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 are determined to put the smiles back on the faces of the people of Pakistan through a World Cup win.
Pakistan’s limited overs captain said that, "We feel for our nation, our people who are missing the World Cup. I think this is the main thing for us, so definitely we will try our level best to win, which is very important for us, and if we do that I hope
some cricket returns to our country sooner than later".
Apart from the security concerns in the country, Pakistan cricket has gone through a lot of controversies in last five years, biggest of which were the spot-fixing charges against three of their premier players.
As a result Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt have been banned for 5, 7 and 10 years respectively. Their exclusion has badly hurt Pakistan’s performance on and off the field.
However, Pakistan’s team performance in the recently concluded tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 has given Pakistani fans a lot of hope for the World Cup.
"It was difficult to keep the team settled in the beginning when we had all those issues. We had to rebuild the team again but now a situation has come that our team is settled. We now have such a combination that people have hopes that this team can do
something", Boom Boom said.
