  1. that song is of the devil!! how dare you corrupt the minds of our innocent children!!!

  2. I agree, I don't care for Boom Chika Rocka very much.  But we just LOVE Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Chicka Chicka 1-2-3.  I think it just didn't have the same rhyme scheme and pattern, the voice and feel to it.  I thought it might have been geared for K-2 instead of pre-K and younger.

If you google those phrases, there are tons of preschool activities associated with both books.  And I do mean you could fill up an entire 3 months worth of lessons simply based on Chicka Chicka!  I do like the idea of exploring the world of coconut, but I'd also caution about allergies.

For $15.00 I purchased the Scholastic DVDs on Amazon.  It's such a perfect accompaniant and read aloud for my son.

If you are able to make large purchases through a school purchase order, see if you can order the  books in bulk and each kid could keep a copy.  All it takes is a large tax credit donation.

Oh, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom IS different than Chicka CHicka ABC.  Boom Boom is longer and tells more of the story of how the letters picked themselves back up and hobbled away.  It's cute!

    Good luck!

  3. If you have access to a computer on Youtube is the Boom Chicka put into a video. Type in Boom Boom Chicka chicka in the search.  Perfect for preschoolers....my two year old asks for it everyday. Then you could do an rhythm activity and have them paint to the rhythm...or even make up their own song/dance using the words Boom Chicka Rock.  I didn't like Boom Chicka Rock as much...but you could talk about the artwork and do torn page pictures.  How fun to have a whole bunch of paper they are allowed to tear up.

  4. Coconut activities would be great.  Have children watch you open a real one, taste the insides and "milk".  When you have finished, you can paint the shells or make prints with them.

Have children act out the chicka boom boom story by assigning them letters.  Make a large paper coconut tree to place on the floor so the kids can meet at the top.  At the end.  Allow each child to roll from one end to the other in alphabetical order!

    Have fun!
