Boonsak Ponsana clears first hurdle in Men’s Singles event of 2013 Thailand Open – Badminton news
Men’s Singles expert Boonsak Ponsana had a great start to the SCG Thailand Open as he did not face any trouble in his opening match against Chu Han Chou on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
This 29-minute tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Bangkok, Thailand and the local shuttler wrapped this showdown in just two games with an impressive result of 21-13 and 21-13.
Boonsak, who holds the top spot in tournament ranking, trellised full benefits of home ground and crowd to seal a splendid straight-set victory.
On the other hand, the inexperienced Taipei campaigner failed to stand against his rival and knelt down in both segments of the showdown.
The battle heated up when the Thai player unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and bagged many valuable points without any interruption. He did not show mercy in next couple of rallies and confined the opposing shuttler in the rear court.
Boonsak enjoyed complete authority until the half time and took his total to 11. This initial lead helped him even after the mid-game break as he maintained the upper hand all the way to game point situation.
In third quarter of the set, the shuttler injected more intensity in his attack and dazzled his rival with a lustrous performance. At first, he mounted pressure by pocketing some consecutive points and then magnified the impact with an overwhelming score
of 21-13.
The second set proved just a replay of previous one as the Taipei shuttler failed to come out of his rival’s influence and surrendered tamely. Han Chou kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation and his passive approach led him to a woefully
exit.
Meanwhile, Boonsak showed consistency in his craft and registered a straight-set win in a commendable manner.
He raised his chances of success immediately in the beginning and capitalised his initial lead in latter part of the game. He finished first half of the set with a respectable figure of 11 and then swept the table with a concluding margin of 21-13.
With this win, he moved to second round of Thailand Open where Lucas Corvee of France will lock horns with him.
