Boonsak Ponsana slays Kazumasa Sakai to storm into Men’s Singles semi-final at Yonex Japan Open
Thailand’s in-form player Boonsak Ponsana continued his roller-coaster run on court and stormed into Men’s Singles semi-final after proving his supremacy in quarter-final clash over his lower ranked Japanese rival Kazumasa Sakai at Yonex Japan Open 2012
in Japan, on Friday, September 21.
The experienced Ponsana, who has been positioned at number 26 in Men’s Singles world ranking, put up spectacular show of positive and planned badminton and easily thrashed Kazumasa without putting in extra effort.
Ponsana has been showing a steady improvement in the last few months and won the Singapore Open Super Series 2012 back in June.
The impressive Ponsana remained on track in the quarter-final battle at Japan Open and remained successful in showing exit to the in-form Kazumasa in straight games by consuming just 29 minutes on court.
On the contrary, the un-seeded Kazumasa could not extend his giant killing run on court as he was lacking the finishing touch in his shots and also remained unable to shake the balance of his experienced Thai challenger.
The Japanese shuttler could not live up to expectations and went down against Ponsana in straight games without proving his mettle.
Ponsana started the opening game in a dominating fashion as he played with remarkable precision and managed an early lead without facing any trouble.
On the other hand, Kazumasa could not return the well executed shots in right areas and eventually remained trailing far behind until the end of first half.
After taking rest for one minute, Ponsana continued showing his dominating performance on court and also remained in complete control.
The in-form Thai shuttler did not commit any mistake in finishing up the first game with a huge 21-9 score on the board.
Kazumasa tried to play better badminton in the following set but he failed to even match the pace of rallies as Ponsana made him work hard to take the bird early from all areas.
Ponsana was in tremendous form and he did not consume much time in ending up the second game with an incredible 21-6 score on the board.
The impressive Ponsana won this quarter-final clash in a one-sided manner with a huge margin of 21-9 and 21-6.
