Boonsak Ponsana stamps Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in pre quarter-finals of 2013 India Open
Men’s Singles campaigner Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand played flawless badminton and powered his way to quarter-final round of Yonex Sunrise India Open on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
This pre quarter-final tussle saw him swinging arms against a compatriot shuttler Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk and their meeting prolonged to 27 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-12 and 21-10.
With this splendid win, the spirited Thai shuttler setup his next clash with a young but talented Indian player R. M. V. Gurusaidutt.
Boonsak Ponsana has alarmed all the contestants with a splendid performance in the preliminary rounds of this Super Series.
In a second round match, he displayed impressive badminton skills on the court and sealed a straight-set victory.
He laid foundation of his dominance immediately in the beginning and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments.
The other Thai player Tanongsak could not match his rival’s skills and remained at the lower end in most part of the game.
Boonsak established a decent lead by prevailing in couple of consecutive rallies. He capitalised this initial advantage and doubled his total before the announcement of break.
After the one-minute interval, he did not lose focus even for a single second and swept the table with a significant difference on the score card.
He strengthened his grip by ruling the court in few back-to-back rallies and then served the notice of his supremacy by putting an overwhelming figure of 21-12.
The second set of match was also a one-sided affair as both campaigners were poles apart in terms of performance.
Boonsak employed all of his brilliance in the game and ensured his presence in the quarter-finals by wrapping this segment of showdown in a favourable manner.
He did not show any sign of laziness and launched an intensive attack. His power packed strokes confined Tanongsak in the rear court.
Boonsak finished first half of the set with a respectable total and then enjoyed a permanent lead until the game point situation.
In third quarter of the set, he added few successive points in his total and managed to place a winning margin of 21-10.
