Question:

Booster Chair Phobia at Dinnertime

My one year old daughter does fine in her booster chair for breakfast, lunch and snacks. However, at dinnertime, she cries in her booster chair and wants me to hold her. I don't want her to get in the habit of sitting in my lap during dinnertime. After the whole dinner fiasco, all she wants to do is cry and go to bed. That means a 6:00 bedtime and a 6:00 wake up time. I'd like her to go to bed later so that my husband can spend time with her after work. Any ideas about dinnertime and bedtime?

  1. I don't know her nap schedule, but it sounds like she either needs a morning AND afternoon nap, or a later afternoon nap. I think it sounds like a trying to stay awake melt down.

  2. She probably just wants to sit at the table with your family

maybe she feels left out ??

are there as many people at the table eating at breakfast, lunch and snack as there are at dinner time ??

my nephew HAS to sit at the table if the familys is

there's just this thing about being at eye level to people with him

he has a chair that sits right at the table maybe invest in something like that???

on the other hand she may just know that if she puts up enough of a fight you'll sit her on your lap....

    goodluck with everything !!!!

my only problem with my son is he throws his food all over my kitchen floor and its white .... !!!!

  3. A phobia is an irrational, life-crippling fear.  You don't have a phobic one year old, you have a one year old who knows she'll get to sit on your lap at dinnertime if she makes a big enough fuss.

  4. We bought one of those chairs that attaches to the table and our kids didn't mind it.  Maybe the excitement of something new and different would outweigh her wanting to sit in your lap! You can find them at most anywhere that sells baby stuff.  Or a little chair that belts to the regular size chair, some people use those too.
