  1. You might find a privately operated boot camp to take him; however, realize that most boot camps are really just another way to incarcerate... they are very much like prison, except if the do all their drills and what they're told, they can be released earlier than if in juvenile detention.

As for your 8 year-old, it sounds like he's doing whatever he wants.  He should be tested by a school psychologist to see if he is behaviorally disordered. His behavior as you describe it is not typical for someone his age; he needs help, and as a parent you need to see that he gets it.  If that child does not get help immediately, do you really want to know what's going to happen to him by the time he's 16 years old?  You will not just double your problems... you will be in a very volatile situation, dangerous for both you and your child.

  2. Try a psychiatrist and/or psychologist.  At 8 years old, you could probably get in-home family therapy through the county's or state's mental health system.  Call soon.  You don't want him doing this at 9!

  3. Look into www.parentproject.com.  They have specialized parenting classes for children with severe behavioral problems.  Most bootcamps don't work.  You can look at the data on their outcomes and it seems that they are 1. VERY expensive and 2. Have mixed results at best in terms of long term effectiveness.  Parent Project may be a better option for you.
