Boot up issues

Question

My laptop will not boot up and has this error code-

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS1\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I cannot find the original Windows XP disk. Is there some other way to get this computer rebooted?
