  1. If, as you say, you have wiped and reinstalled Windows, and the problem is still occurring, then either one of two things are happenning.

    1.  You didn't actually wipe and reinstall.  You simply reinstalled over the top of your existing Xp.  In which case you should try again, delete the partition, and reinstall.  I doubt that this is the problem though.

    2.  Your issue is hardware related.  it could be a failing hard drive, it could be bad RAM, it could be an issue on your motherboard, it could be your power supply.  It could even be things like an add on modem card, or video card.

If you are comfortable going into your computer, and you know what RAM is, then try removing a stick of it, if you have more than one.  If the problem persists, put that stick back and take out another.  If you only have one stick of RAM, move it to a different slot.

However, if the reinstallation process always goes flawlessly, then your issue might be with your Harddrive (since RAM might cause problems with reinstalling windows).

You can see now, why bringing your computer into a repair shop might be the best option.

  2. if you have used any filesharing system such as limewire, bearshare, kazza, etc. you are hosed. This sounds like at least a trojan virus if not a hacking virus. Re formatting your c drive is not going to help you. the virus will still be there. What you need to do is take it to ur local computer store. If its a good computer store, they should have a program called accuboot. This is a 3000 dollar program that evades all viruses and allows them to see the trojan and then destroy it. However, if they use this program, you will have to install everything back onto your computer. If you havent used any of theses filesharing programs then it sounds like your computer has reacted poorly to the reformatting. In this case your totally screwed. Buy a mac. Thats what i did and i havent had a problem since, plus i hate vista.
