"I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't played a lot of cricket for England recently because of injuries. So it's exciting for me, and I'm in good form," said Bopara on the ECB website.
Bopara, the 27-year-old Essex middle-order batsman, sustained the calf injury before the recently concluded three-Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and was forced to miss the entire Test-leg of the home series, much to his frustration.
"It's very frustrating. It's only recently I've started to get a few injuries. Before that, I very rarely missed games through injury. It is annoying. It is frustrating. But whatever's meant to be is meant to be,” the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 cricketer said on ECB's
website.
"…it gives someone else an opportunity to cement their place. But it means when I get my opportunity, I've got to cement my place. Let's hope I get it soon," he added further.
The young http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 batsman, Jonny Bairstow, replaced him in the squad, but failed to make the best of the opportunity, scoring just 38 runs in four innings.
During his time away from the national side, Bopara has been playing County cricket for Essex. He has scored 331 championship runs from five matches at an impressive average of 66.20, including two centuries and a half century as well. In his lone
CB40 appearance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785, on June 4, Bopara scored an unbeaten 120.
Bopara has already been named in the ODI squad for West Indies series, and going by his impressive performances in County cricket, the Essex man is looking good to reclaim his position in the middle-order for the June 16 opener in Southampton.
The right-hander hopes to take his good form into the three-ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 and Co.
The second one-dayer of the series will be played at The Oval, on June 19, while the third and final ODI of the series will be hosted by Leeds, on June 22, afterwhich the two outfits are also scheduled to play a one-off T20 International at Nottingham
