Bordeaux assistant coach Michel Pavon resigns
It has been reported in the French media that, Michel http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pavon-c29553, assistant coach of Bordeaux has resigned from his position after rejoining the club this summer.
This news was shared with coach, Jean Tigana, this Wednesday but wasn’t disclosed until now. Pavon’s departure has now left the club looking for a replacement.
It has also been reported that Bordeaux General Director, Alain Deveseleer, has accepted the resignation and said that the assistant coach has now “Ceased his collaborations with Jean Tigana”.
However, it is still not sure who will be replacing Pavon in the future and the decision has been further delayed until club President, Jean-Louis Triaud, returns from vacation.
It has also been reported that Pavon may be replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-c9045 Damiano. Damiano was an assistant coach to Jean Tigana when the Frenchman was at Fulham for three years from 2000 to 2003.
It has been suggested that the recent run of results that saw the Girondins des Bordeaux drop to the bottom half of the table increased pressure on both Tigana and Pavon and the latter handed in his resignation before getting kicked out, something that is
still feared for the Bordeaux coach.
According to conflicting reports, the coach had some issues with his assistant in recent weeks and that may also have acted as a contributing factor to his departure.
Although, Jean Tigana is also under immense pressure, club President Jean-Louis Triaud has given him his backing and said that the coach was under no pressure from the board despite his side’s poor form.
This Sunday, Bordeaux lost 5-1 to Lorient and the side is now winless in three games. The losing streak has seen them drop to 12th place in the Ligue 1 standings. Such a slump is definitely an alarming sign for a club that won the French title
in 2009.
However, Triaud is adamant that Tigana will face the sack. "The question of the departure of Jean Tigana does not arise. There is no decision to take. You cannot blame him for everything'', said the steadfast manager in an interview with ‘Le Parisien’.
