FC Girondins de Bordeaux coach, Francis Gillot has asked the club to open the transfer kitty for him in order to make a few additions to his squad in the January transfer window.
Les Girondins are currently in 14th place in the Ligue 1 standings and have accumulated just eight points from nine games. in an interview with daily Sud Ouest, the French tactician said that he is hoping to have some fresh faces in the winter transfer window after the recently-concluded summer transfer window saw Bordeaux spend nothing on new players.
So far this campaign, Bordeaux’s profligacy in front of goal has been evident and Gillot has accepted the fact that he would have loved to have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/River-Plate-c40368 earlier this summer after the Argentine giants were relegated to the second tier of Argentine football following a dismal showing in three seasons.
While talking to the media, Gillot revealed that he had the chance of signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Trezeguet-c10623 but opted not to go for the World Cup winner and instead, went for Landry N’Guemo and Maurice-Belay who joined the Aquitaine club as free agents.
However, January will see the start of the African Cup of Nations and Bordeaux will have to do without their African contingent for over a month. The likes of Diabate, Traore and Lamine Sane will represent their respective countries in the tournament and Gillot knows that he would need to find replacements in the winter transfer session.
Fully resolute on improving Bordeaux, Gillot has said that he is not looking to leave the Stade Chaban Delmas anytime soon.
“I hope to be here in the year or two. I am happy here. They are friendly people. Moreover, I have just bought a house so I’m not ready to leave that house because it’s beautiful,” Gillot joked while talking to the media.
Though Bordeaux have made an indifferent start to the new campaign, recent draws against Montpellier and Lille could prove to be immense for a side that is looking to return to winning ways after the end of the international break.
