FC Girondins de Bordeaux could still lose their best striker at the end of the season without coughing up a single penny
In the summer of 2010, Moroccan international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC.
The striker left Chaban-Delmas as a free agent which meant that Bordeaux were unable to recuperate a single penny for a player who played over 230 Ligue 1 games for the club.
Such a situation may come to repeat itself in the case of another striker in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoan-Gouffran-c37412. The 26-year-old Frenchman is in the last year of his contract with Les Girondins and if he does not leave the club in the January transfer window, Bordeaux may see
him walk out as a free agent next summer.
A few days back, Le Parisien explained that the striker, who is currently Bordeaux’s topscorer this season, might agree to extend his contract with the club. The gesture made by Gouffran is only to show his loyalty to a club that was willing to give him
a long-term contract a few years ago when he suffered a serious injury.
However so far, nothing has been realised yet as the player is still waiting to be offered a new lease. While talking to L’Equipe on Saturday, Bordeaux president, Jean-Louis Triaud revealed that negotiations are happening but nothing can be said for sure
as there are a lot of conditions regarding the contract extension.
“We’ll talk quietly. We hope he continues but we must see in what conditions. This summer, I did not receive a fax from any club and his agent has never called.”
Suffice to say, Gouffran signing a new contract with the club is not imminent as several English sides contact the former Caen man.
Now it remains to be seen if the player and his entourage would be willing to agree on a new contract. The ball is in Gouffran’s court for now who is solely focused on the team’s performance.
“Most important thing is that the team wins. I work like this,” said the 26-year-old.
