Bordeaux to take their chances on free agent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mahamadou-Diarra-c23077 – Ligue 1 news
At the age of 30, Mali international Mahamadou Diarra is yet to find a club. this summer, the Malian was a free agent after his contract with AS Monaco expired.
Reports now suggest that the former Real Madrid man is now attracting a lot of interest from FC Bordeaux. Despite recent announcement that Bordeaux will have a budget of 10 million Euros to spend from in the winter transfer market, Les Girondins are not
hesitating in saving money by bringing aboard Diarra.
L’Equipe suggests that Bordeaux are keen on signing the midfielder. Although the club has the likes of Sane and N’Guemo in the defensive midfield position, Bordeaux have the fourth worst defence in the Ligue 1 so far.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot is also worried about the lack of his players’ discipline in the middle of the park and is now looking to recruit an experienced defensive midfielder. Reports now suggest that the French tactician is now keeping tabs on Diarra who fits the
bill perfectly for the troubled Aquitaine club.
As a free agent, Diarra would not be much of a burden on the club’s finances and his experience would help the club’s younger players a lot as the team clearly lacks in confidence. Nevertheless, a lot of issues still exist. First, Diarra has not played a
single league game since April 16, 2010 and will not be expected to play a whole game so quickly. Secondly, Diarra’s previous spell at AS Monaco was not a great one as the former Lyon man failed to impress during his time at the club.
Diarra’s first stint of French football came in 2002 when Lyon signed him from Dutch side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mali-c2951 international played 152 games for Les Gones and won 4 Ligue 1 titles. In 2006, he was bought by La Liga giants Real Madrid
for who he played 122 games between 2006 and 2010 before the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 relegated him to a peripheral role at the club.
A move to Bordeaux is still days away, Diarra could be the right person to spark Bordeaux to life if he remains fit which is also a major concern.
