Border v Boland – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/2013 – Match Update
An all-round performance from Border saw them securing a 2-wicket win over Boland in the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, at the Buffalo Park in East London on October 14.
Border won the toss and elected to field first, launching an effective bowling attack, which saw all of their six bowlers claiming at least one wicket each, while Darryl Brown took 3 for 46, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-de-Kock-c89836 claimed 2 for 20.
Boland’s top-order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 it out at the crease long enough to establish a
55-run third-wicket stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rushdi-Jappie-c87166 (24).
The 13th over saw Jappie dismissed at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Clement-Cavanagh-Canning-c87289 (34), and Michael Loubser (52) kept the innings moving forward
with a 90-run stand for the 5th wicket.
Their efforts got the team up to 157 by the 33rd over, after which both batsmen were sent packing. The remainder of the batting order remained lacklustre, and chipped in with meagre contributions. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tiaan-Willam-Raymond-Cloete-c93935 (6), Ockert Erasmus (9), and Ferisco
Adams (2) were all sent packing by Brown, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CK-Langeveldt-c1270 (1) was trapped lbw by de Kock. By the 41st over, Boland were all out, at 179.
During Border’s turn at bat, the team appeared off to a bad start, as Langeveldt (10-4-22-3) and Adams (9-1-37-4) closed in on the top and most of the middle order. However, a few solid contributions from the middle and lower order saw Border home.
Langeveldt took care of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lundi-Mbane-c73313 (0). By the 14th over, Border were at 39 for 6, and things were beginning to look bleak.
However, Darryl Brown (33) and Shaun de Kock (37*) dug their heels in for a 44-run stand for the 7th wicket, and after Brown was sent packing by Cloete in the 26th over, de Kock set up another 44-run partnership, this time with wicketkeeper
skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abongile-Mzimkhulu-Sodumo-c41827 (27).
The skipper was the last batsman to fall, bowled by Adams, but de Kock kept going, establishing a final unbeaten 53-run stand with Ayabulela Gqamane (36*), which got Border up to 180, with 2 wickets and 34 deliveries remaining.
