It was a lucky day for Border, who chose to field after winning the toss and stamped their authority by grabbing their first wicket with only 12 runs on the board as striker DL Brown shattered South Western Districts’ K Scholtz stamps with the batsman on
12 runs.
Border struck again with only 14 runs on the board when RD McMillan was dismissed by Mbane after scoring only a run.

Brown was certainly the pick of the bowlers as he struck thrice in the later stage of the match to complete his six-wicket haul, seeing his opponents falter on 90 runs.
Requiring 91 runs to win in 50 overs, Border had all the time in the world at their disposal to chase down the target.
It was pressing for South Western Districts to pull off a majestic bowling performance in order to avoid an imminent defeat.
The Border openers BL Bennett and V Makhaphela put their side on the right track as they posted 27 runs before the former lost his wicket after hitting 12 runs off his bat.
Nonetheless, Border were too good to be stopped today as they reached the target in 17.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.
