Borderlands 2, its official! – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
The follow up to the unique first person shooter Role Playing Game (RPG) experience, Borderlands has been announced.
According to 2K Games, the publisher of the series, Borderlands 2 is no longer a rumour surrounded by speculation, but now a confirmed title gamers will be able to play in the near future.
2K Games, seem to want to keep the original experience intact as Gearbox Software, the developer for the first game, is back at the development helm for the sequel.
The game’s publisher confirmed the game with the following press release, “Combining invention and evolution, Borderlands 2 features all-new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story.
Players will reveal secrets, and escalate mysteries of the Borderlands universe as they adventure across the unexplored new areas of Pandora.”
The statement gave away quite a bit about the game, as the invention and evolution bit hints at the game taking a few risks and tweaking the gameplay to better relate to gamers.
Gamers can also forget about seeing the same characters from the first part as the statement also reveals that there will be a new cast of characters, though one should not cross out the chance of a cameo appearance from any of the previous cast members.
The statement also tells gamers that they can expect to uncover much more from the Borderlands universe as they would have plenty of areas to explore in new locations.
Yet, statements from developers are usually not the best things to go by and with the weight of expectation on Borderlands 2 following the success of its predecessor, it is best if everyone reserves judgment till they get a peek of the game at the very least.
The game will be released at the start of 2K Games’ financial year, which in the layman’s calendar could be anytime after the 1st of April next year.
For those who cannot wait that long, the game will be making an appearance at this year’s GamesCom, though in what shape is still unknown. GamesCom will take place on the 17th of August and run until the 21st of the same month.
