Borderlands 2 gets an ‘Invincible’ Boss – Video Games Update
Gearbox has announced at Gamescom that Borderlands 2 will feature an ‘Invincible’ boss character which will give gamers a really tough time when they fight it.
Terramorphous is the name of the boss characters which will probably cause gamers to curse the developers when they are fighting him. Gearbox states that the majority of the gamers who buy Borderlands 2 will not be able to defeat it but the quest titled
‘You.Will.Die’ would still be available.
The main reason for the developers to add such a strong boss character was to add something for the Borderlands 2 end game. Developers believe that only those gamers who manage to complete the whole game and reach level 50 might stand a chance against Terramorphous
and even then it will require four players working together to have a shot of taking it down.
The Terramorphous quest is not part of the main story so gamers who don’t wish to face such an overpowered boss will have the option to skip the quest altogether. Many gamers will be asking themselves about what the reward is going to be for taking him down.
The answer is Legendary Loot. Gearbox has revealed that if gamers somehow manage to defeat the Terramorphous they will be awarded with some legendary weapons and items which can’t be found anywhere else in the game.
"If you don't curse the design team at least five times on the way to beating this guy, we haven't done our jobs," stated Randy Varnell, who is the games’ Producer. Gearbox did something similar in the first Borderlands but the super-strong boss was included
in the last downloadable content (DLC), ‘The Armoury of General Knoxx’.
This time however Terramorphous will be present in the retail game as Gearbox believes that it will give players to look forward to something once they have reached max level in the game and are too powerful for regular enemies.
“I know how well gamers break games, but he really is tuned for that end-game, four-player co-op fight, testing your build and your gear and your equipment and your ability to work together as a team. His rewards are great. So, if you are that end-game player,
this is your challenge right here,” continued Varnell saying that the Terramorphous can be beaten but it would require a lot of hard work and a team effort.
Borderlands 2 has gone gold and the team is now focusing solely on post launch DLC to keep players busy even when they complete the main quest. Be on the lookout as the game ships to retail in September.
