Ok, so i am "gifted" or whatever you want to call it and i go to grade 7 at a public school where i am being tortured with repetitive work that i understood years ago. i am not trying to be a snot, but i pick things up really easily. i can just understand things, for lack of a better way to put it. if we are learning something new and my teacher starts to explain it, i understand it before he is at all close to finishing. i am bored out of my mind. i want to be challenged with the work i do. how do you think i should go about "getting challenged" by my school work?

  1. does your school have  a gifted and talented program-have you applied-

  2. Go above and beyond. If you dodn't know what that means it means kind of that after your homework is done go online learn more about it then see if you can find some harder work on that thing/subject that may be more advanced. Also try to make your answers more thought through that way your answers might be more compliated to come up with! And your gift is so cool! Good Luck challenging yourself! ;-)

  3. I've been there. They skipped me from grade 8 to 10...try not to let it get to you. You could try tutoring your classmates or something. I'm not sure how to make school more interesting, but outside of it take up a hobby that challenges you. Join a book club or become politically active if you are interested in that. Whatever you do, stay away from drugs and don't let the other students drag you down. Things get better after a while.

  4. You obviously are a fast learner and want a challenge, some people are fast learners and don't want a challenge.  Your school does not have any honors courses? Well, if they don't, I'm sure the high school you go to will. If you get bored with physics and chemistry then you are gifted. And don't forget, there is always another level in almost every subject. Also, you could start studying for the SAT or ACT.

  5. Hah! I was exactly like that! I'm in ninth grade. I skipped first grade, and my 'rents thought that would help challenge me. Yeah right. After being advanced several grades in mathematics, English, and science, I gave up the public school system for cyberschool. WAY better. Trust me. Actually, I'm supposed to be doing school right now, so yes, it's still boring, but not AS boring. ;)

EDIT: GIfted and talented programs are c**p. I was in our school's program (REACH) and it was even worse than normal classes. I eventually started skipping all the meetings.

  6. masha allah, have patience, while u get bored in ur calss room prepare ur self for the questions to ask ur teacher, this will give u more power to analyse the subject in the the broad spectrum.

and if u want the challenge work, think about existance of nature.

    best of luck

  7. see your teachers after the lesson and let them know your frustrations and they will probably try and find some similar work that's more advanced so that you are keeping in with what the rest of the class are doing but also getting the challenge you need i hope that helps in any way

  8. Talk with your parents, teachers, and counselor or school administrator about your problem.   They will help you if you are really interested in working and learning.  (Some bright kids just want to "skate" you know.)

There are different options in different school districts.  Some have independent study classes.  Some have a gifted student program.   Don't be mislead by one person's opinion of one school's gifted program.    She's not you and your school is probably not your school.   Get some information.

  9. Sure why not?
