Bored on the train....?

Question

Im going on a train for 4 hours on my own, have you got any idea of anything I could do to keep me occupied? Any suggestions would be helpful :)

A good book or magazines and your mp3 player!

it's called train spotting, it's a british thing. I guess you could see how man times you could spot the train you were on each hour of the trip...

If you have one bring your laptop I use mine on planes and busses and trains ex.  

If you dont have one bring a book

1. Bring a book to read.

2. Bring your laptop and amuse yourself with that.

3. Bring a pair of binoculars and look out at the scenery. You'll be surprised what you see.

4. Bring a stopwatch and time the interval between mileposts. Then try and work out the speed of the train.

5. Does the train have a dining car? Get yourself a meal, it will help pass the time.

6. Bring your pet dog, if you've got one. Everybody will be interested in the dog, and you (in that order).

7. Bring a chess set and either play against yourself or (better) get one of the other passengers to give you a game.

8. Bring a sudoku puzzle book, or any puzzle book, and amuse yourself with that.

Sir Richard has got a point, but please remember that some trains have 'quiet' coaches where mobile phones are not allowed, and the penalty for infringing this rule is a heavy fine or a long term of imprisonment, or both....

Bring a nice book, bring your gameheld console (ds, psp), get one of those crossword or sudoku books, watch the scenery outside, etc etc...

I just took Amtrak from Va. to Ga. 2 weeks ago (10 Hours trip) and I meet a lot of cool people on the train I talked. I got me a Crossword book to help. But I accidentally left it in Va. at my family's house. LOL at me.

If you're in the UK you have to talk very loudly on your mobile phone complaining about how late the train is and that the delays are inconveniencing you terribly. It's a law.

Don't forget to go buy some hideous food in the buffet car, it'll give you something else to complain about on the phone. Take a book in case your phone battery goes flat or in the unlikely event the train is on time.

If you are in some other country, check for local traditions and habits.

Just the normal stuff, listen to your fave music on your i-pod, read a good book, text friends/family on your phone, or have a nap, hope this helps x

Bring your laptop. Are we talking amtrak? If so go roaming around. Bring game boy, psp, just find people to call. This isnt rocket scientry. I do believe I made up the word scientry.
