Boris Diaw tie-breaking blow puts Charlotte Bobcats on the top over Cleveland Cavaliers
Boris Diaw landed a game-high 26 points and dished out eleven assists to spearhead Charlotte Bobcats in a thrilling 98-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Time Warner Cable Arena. The spirited Bobcats are making their last chances
for the final playoff push count as they sealed their fourth straight victory.
Leading by one point 0.3 seconds to go, the Bobcats had a huge scare when Anthony Parker surged down the lane for a jumper. Parker was however emphatically blocked by reserve forward Dominic McGuire as the Bobcats held on to single
point victory.
Charlotte coach Paul Silas was very pleased with performance of his star forward, Diaw who is lending a substantial support to the team in winning. "He was awesome. He can do that every night. I guess I have to just give him the
ball more down there so he can work with it. We needed him to do that tonight and he really came through."
Bobcats continue to lose their key players due to injury however the good thing is they are winning. The team was playing without Tyrus Thomas and they even lost their top scorer Stephen Jackson in the second period. The Bobcats
sustained their momentum in the second half as the star of the night Diaw leaded the proceedings by example.
Kwame Brown and Gerald Henderson carried the action for Charlotte and combined for 30 points to keep the scoring board ticking.
Ramon sessions came off the bench and took the charge outstandingly for the Cavaliers by scoring a team-high 24 points. J.J. Hickson provided some support with his 20 points however the team which surprisingly overshadowed Miami
Heat failed to dominate after halftime.
In the first half of the game, Cleveland was fairly dominant from the long distance as they buried four scorching blows from downtown to grab 3 points advantage. Jackson was struggling right from the beginning and he landed only
3 points in more than 15 minutes of the time-play. Brown scored 13 points of his 16 in the first two quarter and Diaw landed 10 points however the visiting Cavaliers ended the first half with 50-47 advantage.
The second half of the game was filled with sheer excitement when Bobcats stood forward to gain advantage and Cavaliers fought to sustain their position. Henderson took the charge in the starting moments of the period and the home
team managed to snatch the lead 53-52. Cavaliers romped with 12-4 run swiftly to reclaim their advantage but Bobcats retaliated continuously as both the teams entered the final quarter on 76-76 tie.
The final minutes of the game depicted some dithering moments for both the teams. Diaw went invincible in the last quarter to lead his team towards the victory. He scored 10 points in the period to put his team on the frontline.
Diaw’s tie breaking free throw in the last 14 seconds infused incredible energy in the arena as Charlotte Bobcats relished a magnificent 98-87 victory.
