Boris Pashanski surprises Nicolas Devilder in second round – Copa Sevilla 2012
Serbian challenger, Boris Pashanski, stunned the eighth seed, Nicolas Devilder, with a breadstick at the Copa Sevilla 2012 on Wednesday. He jolted down a 6-1, 6-2 victory against the world number 201 to charge into the quarter-finals at this ATP (Association
of Tennis Professionals) Challenger Tour event taking place in Seville, Spain.
The underdog showed superb tennis to shock Devilder for the first time in their third meeting. He not only avenged his loss at the Tunis Challenger three years ago but also secured a spot in the last eight at the Real Club de Tenis Betis.
Pashanski stormed into this outdoor clay court event. He wiped out the opening four games before the seed could come on the score sheet. The Serb pocketed the last two games and pulled out the opener with a breadstick. He superbly brushed off all three breakpoints
he came across and cashed in all three break opportunities to register this extra-ordinary 6-1 success.
Ranked 261st in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Pashanski maintained his intensity in the following set. He swiped his entire serves without facing any hindrance. The Serb cashed in his first break opportunity in the second
game and took a 3-0 lead. After keep his entire serves, Pashanski availed his second break chance in the last game and sealed the set by winning six games to two.

errors and finished the match with 57 points.
Next up for the Serb is Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff who battled past the local contestant, Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol, in three sets to reach this spot.
The second seed, Daniel Gimeno-Traver, also stole the limelight later that day. He warded off both breakpoints he faced to keep his entire serves against Germany’s Nils Langer. The Spaniard capitalised on four out of nine break chances to manipulate a 6-2,
6-2 score line in one hour and 15 minutes.
