  2. Well usually in common cases a birth certificate is sufficient for those born within that country. In your case since you were born abroad (same as my daughter) you are required to not only supply your original birth certificate of foreign origin (in its english translation) as well as your birth abroad papers or in your case naturalization paper which basically proves that you became a citizen. If you do not have your original birth certificate then you should contact the Polish Embassy and request a copy. I am sure there will be a fee and it may take a few weeks to get it but it's probably a good idea to have that document in any case as you may need it if you have to travel in an emergency situation to visit relatives abroad etc. Best of luck and safe travels!

  3. A Certificate of Birth can be issued by anyone; it simply states that an individual was born.

A legal Birth Certificate indicates the country, state, city, mother and father of child born, time of birth, name given to the child at birth, and one to two witnesses of that birth. A legal certificate could also include the occupation of the named father and mother, racial prediliction of mother and father, plus birthplace of mother and father, and parents of mother and father.

Naturalization papers usually required a lengthy process, requiring the person seeking naturalization to complete a lengthy application, live in a country for at least five years, submit documentation of marriage and birth records, including spousal records of parentage.

Check warsaw.usembassy/gov to find specific agencies in Poland you can contact.

  4. A birth certificate and certificate of birth are both the same thing:  a document showing that a government entity has recognized the birth of a child.  A certificate usually includes the exact location and date of birth, and the names of both parents.  It may also include the nationality of the parents, but usually not of the child.

Naturalization is the conferring of nationality/citizenship upon a person after birth, by whatever means that country requires and usually through a voluntary act of the person.  That process can differ widely between countries.

To get a copy of your birth certificate, visit the local government office in the town or area where you were born.  If you are outside of Poland, visit the nearest Polish embassy or consulate to find out how to request a copy.
