Born in new zealand, live in the us and lost my wallet. i dont even know where to start!?

the problem is- i have no idea where my birth certificate is. my mother says my father has it, but they are divorced and i do not know where he lives now. help!!!!

  1. First report your lost wallet to the police. Then report (if you've lost your passport) report your lost passport to the NZ embassy in the USA.

    From there you can apply for an emergency passport if you need one.

    Your birth certificate. Fortunately  you're born in NZ so a replacement can easily be applied for over the phone (providing you don't mind making an overseas phone call). You just need to give a few details such as:

    The name(s) of the person or couple concerned;

    The date or year and place of the birth, death, marriage or civil union for which you want a certificate;

    The name and postal address of the person applying for the certificate; and

    Other relevant details (e.g. names of parents, if you are looking for a birth certificate), help us locate the correct record.
