Borussia Dortmund wins their seventh Bundesliga title
The German outfit, Borussia Dortmund, has captured their seventh Bundesliga title after defeating Nurnberg 2-0 at home, extending their top of the table lead to an unsurpassable level.
It was a remarkable scene at Westfalenstadion on Saturday night when all Dortmund players came onto the ground and celebrated their extreme joy in front of 80,000 fans.
Two of Dortmund players who will remember the night throughout their life will be http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 since their respective braces helped ‘The Black Yellows’ win their seventh Bundesliga title and their first since 2002.
The favourites, Bayer Leverkusen, who have the must win situation in their hand to stay in the title race was defeated 2-0 by their struggling derby rivals, Cologne.
From Cologne, it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Milivoje-Novakovic-c25859 who shined for them by scoring two goals during the second half, in the 67th and 82nd minute, respectively. This was Cologne’s first victory after a massive gap of 14 years.
Leverkusen, by winning this away game, could have taken the competition into the next week, but their desire will remain unfulfilled for now as Jurgen Klopp's side now have an unbeatable eight points lead over Leverkusen.
This situation will raise eyebrows for many of the Leverkusen stakeholders as they failed to overcome a weaker side of the competition, Cologne. This was Cologne’s first victory over Leverkusen in the past 14 years.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the clubs sporting director, in his post-match interview has applauded the team’s marvellous effort of bringing the Bundesliga glory home as he said, “I can’t believe this. The team did a great job. The club has earned this triumph“.
Than it was the turn of Dortmund’s coach to give a round of applause for his team's brilliant effort. He said “We have developed year by year. This is fantastic. I'm just happy. I thought it would be more euphoric, but that's maybe still to come. You can't
put it into words what the lads have achieved. It's incredible to outgrow yourself 32 times. The team coped with all situations of pressure”.
There is no reason why the club sporting director have hailed his team’s performance so much, as Borussians in their dream run have won 22 of their 32 matches while losing only four matches, proved out to be the biggest reason of their success.
Dortmund’s General Manager Michael Zorc, while appreciating team’s commanding performance highlighted the young age factor of team by saying “There has probably never been such a young team as the German champion in the history of the Bundesliga.”
Bortmund’s winger, Kevin Grosskreutz, has shown extreme happiness over their victory as he said that for a team like Dortmund to win after 2001-02 is no less than a big achievement. He said he himself was struggling to get in to the team two years back and
now becoming a champion is like a dream come true.
